Analysis of histology and long noncoding RNAs involved in the rabbit hair follicle density using RNA sequencing

Abstract Background Hair follicle density influences wool fibre production, which is one of the most important traits Wan Strain Angora rabbit. However, molecular mechanisms regulating hair have remained elusive. Results In this study, at different body sites rabbits with high and low production (HWP LWP) was investigated by histological analysis. Haematoxylin-eosin staining showed a higher in skin HWP rabbits. The long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) profile sequencing, 50 38 differentially expressed (DE) lncRNAs genes, respectively, were screened between LWP groups. A gene ontology analysis revealed that phospholipid, lipid metabolic, apoptotic, biosynthetic, fatty acid transport processes significantly enriched. Potential functional regulate metabolism, amino synthesis, as well Janus kinase (JAK)-signal transducer activator transcription (STAT) hedgehog signalling pathways, identified. Consequently, five (LNC_002171, LNC_000797, LNC_005567, LNC_013595, LNC_020367) considered to be potential regulators development. Three DE genes validated quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (q-PCR). Conclusions LncRNA profiles provide information on lncRNA expression improve understanding involved regulation density.
